One story. Two perspectives. Endless heart.
Follow a little boy and a wooly sheep as they face the same milestone from different worlds. "The Special Haircut" weaves together parallel journeys with a single narrative that speaks to both experiences.
When long locks and wool become gifts for others, our hesitant heroes discover that giving creates unexpected connections. This innovative picture book tells two stories with one set of words, showing children that courage and kindness go hand in hand.
A warm, meaningful tale about first haircuts, overcoming fears, and the joy of helping others. The dual storytelling approach invites readers to compare and connect two worlds that aren't so different after all. Parents and educators will appreciate how this story opens conversations about where wool comes from, hair donation, and celebrating growth milestones in childhood.
A uniquely illustrated adventure that transforms a common childhood experience into a lesson of compassion.

Behind the Story
The idea for this story came from a couple of places. My neighbours have a sheep farm and mentioned they'd love to see more picture books about sheep. And a friend of mine shared a post on Facebook earlier this year about her daughter donating her hair to be made into wigs for kids. Both these ideas had floated around in my head until early one morning, while it was still quiet at the markets, the ideas collided. I had the revelation that I could combine the stories and tell both of them with one set of text. I scribbled down a plan for the story on some scrap paper then put it all together over the next week.
