How to add a quote to Goodreads

Hey Everyone!

Have you read a book with an amazing quote, then looked for it on Goodreads but the quote wasn't there?

Have you written a book with memorable quotes and would like a way to share these with readers?

I'd love to introduce you to Goodreads quotes. It's a feature that's been around for a while, but lots of people don't know how to add a new quote to the database.

Step 1

  • Log into Goodreads
  • Click on the Community menu
  • Select Quotes from the drop down

Step 2

  • Select Add A Quote at the top right of the screen
If you scroll down to the bottom of this blog (desktop version) you will see a Goodreads quote box which scrolls through all the quotes I've liked on Goodreads. You can add this feature to your own blog via the "My Quotes" widget.

Click on My Quotes instead of Add A Quote, then scroll down the right hand side until you find the widget. Copy and paste the code into your blog. That process is different for each blog platform, so I won't go into it here.

Step 3

  • Type (or copy paste) you quote into the text box
  • Type the author's name into the author box and select relevant auto completed name

Step 4

  • Select relevant book from drop down menu

Step 5

  • Add relevant tags to the quote
  • Click Save

Step 6

  • Share your love of this quote on social media
