I snapped up this free prequel when it first became available, but then realised that I'm not very good with the waiting, so stashed it away until I got my hands on the novel. You don't have to read the prequel to understand the novel, but it adds another layer to the story and is a beautiful set up for the main event. I finished reading the prequel and dove straight into the novel.
