Hey Everyone!

My kids and I have just discovered the Sword Girl series by Frances Watts. It is a middle grade fiction, fantasy, adventure, mystery kind of thing. The series is complete, with six books. Here are our reviews of the first three.

The Secret of the SwordsThe Secret of the Swords by Frances Watts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the series. I read this aloud to my 4 year old daughter and 6 year old son as a bedtime story over two nights. They both loved Tommy, especially because my son's name is Tom. They also loved the fact that the animals could talk. This was a great little fantasy adventure story. We plan to read the rest of the series.

The Poison PlotThe Poison Plot by Frances Watts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the series. I read this aloud to my 4 year old daughter and 6 year old son as a bedtime story over two nights. My son corrects me if I accidently say crocodile "He's a crocodiddle Mum". My son also loved to check with me "does droppings mean poo?" - yes it does. Another great fantasy adventure with a strong female character.

Tournament TroubleTournament Trouble by Frances Watts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book three in the series. I read this aloud to my 4 year old daughter and 6 year old son as a bedtime story over two nights. We have been reading the series all in a row as the kids have been really enjoying it. A great fantasy adventure with a bit of a mystery. I would talk with the kids about why they thought things were happening and guess different reasons that the horse was being mean to Tommy. Looking forward to the next one.

Hello Renee,

I love these reviews! You must be up to The Terrible Trickster next (which I must confess is my personal favourite, along with The Poison Plot). I hope you, Tom and your daughter enjoy the rest of the series.

Best wishes,
Frances

We are 2/3 through The Terrible Trickster, plan to finish it tomorrow night. It was the blurb of that one I read to my son to see if he was interested in the books. He has asked if every book so far has the tricks in it. He was so excited when I finally said yes.
